Learn About Budgets and the Budgeting Schedule

Learn about budgets and the budgeting schedule at Columbia University.

Details

A Budget is a list of all planned expenses and anticipated revenue collections. It is used to inform management of key activities occurring at each school, department or center.

Schools and departments should develop and maintain their own models to model alternative budget scenarios and assemble revenue and expense plans. Once you have developed the model, you will need to take the web-based Budget Tool Basics training in order to receive access to the Budget tool in Accounting and Reporting at Columbia (ARC). Finally, you will need to take the instructor-led Budget Process at Columbia training in order to maintain your budget in ARC.

This contains a generic budget timeline.
