E-Classes

Our e-classes are designed to help you learn policies, procedures and system usage in an online environment. For further instruction, try supplementing your learning with live classroom instruction (link to other section). Each class covers a different aspect of the financial process, and will be more or less relevant depending upon your specific role.

CLASS T12071: Using WebSAF for Add-Comp Payments

Course Description

The Additional Compensation (Add-Comp) sub-module of WebSAF enables departments to request certain payment transactions (bonuses, make-up pay, special pay) for monthly employees (only). WebSAF has many advantages over paper processing, including electronic approval routing, shorter deadlines and the ability to track transactions online.

** Completion of this course is REQUIRED before you will be given access to view, create or approve Add-Comp transactions in WebSAF. After completing the class, please also submit an updated FFE Security Access Application.


CLASS T08092: Using WebSAF for Payroll Accounting

Approximate Running Time: 45 minutes

Course Description

The WebSAF tool enables departments to provide information to Payroll regarding the account distribution of an employee's regular earnings.  Departments are REQUIRED to use WebSAF whenever possible, although in some cases, a paper SAF may need to be processed. In this training, you will learn the basic concepts of the CU payroll accounting process and how to use the WebSAF tool to accomplish labor distribution transactions.

Course Description

*** Class in Development - for Pilot Program Participants Only  ***

To make sure that NEW custodians fully understand PC policies and procedures, custodian applicants are REQUIRED to go through the online Petty Cash Custodian training and pass a short certification quiz.  A custodian will not receive their PC Fund check until they complete this process.

 

Current petty cash processors and approvers should also review this online training to familiarize themselves with new policies and procedures.

Course Description

*** For CU Credit Card Merchant Account Holders and IT Personnel Only  ***

All Columbia University Credit Card Merchant Account Users or IT Technical Security Reviewers will need to review all of the informational slides in this training and successfully pass a short certification quiz at the end.
