The Studebaker building has a fire life safety plan, and the building management is required to adhere to the direction of either the NYPD, FDNY, or any other emergency organization that is in control of specific situation at any given time during an emergency. The Studebaker building conducts fire drills at least semi-annually, updates fire warden lists and tests the fire alarm system on a regular basis. Please familiarise yourself with the location of the fire exits on your floor, the location of the fire alarm boxes, and which floors are re-entry floors. Fire and Deputy Wardens need to sign in every morning in the log book located on the first floor with security to help facilitate the NYPD, FDNY, or any other emergency organization in the event of an emergency.
Fire 1. ACTIVATE the fire alarm immediately by pulling the nearest Fire Alarm Box on your floor (boxes are located next to stairwells B and C). If you cannot pull the Fire Alarm, call 911. 2. COMMUNICATE with the Fire Warden Team and other colleagues on your floor. 3. EVACUATE by using the stairs (see diagram). DO NOT USE THE ELEVATORS. Stay low in smoke conditions, and close doors to confine fire and smoke. Feel doors before opening them; if they’re hot, don’t open!
